Our Philosophy
Gentle Care.
Clear Communication. Outstanding Results.
At Setter Periodontics and Dental Implants, we are not in the dental business working with people, we are in the people business working in dentistry. We strive to be your partner in oral health and here are a few reasons why we are different.
We are your oral health specialist. Periodontists complete extensive training beyond dental school to focus on the supporting structures of your mouth (teeth, gums, and jawbone). Periodontists are specially trained to help patients maintain a healthy mouth for the rest of their lives. Our team can provide a comprehensive look at the health of your mouth and discuss detailed plans to achieve the level of health and comfort you strive for.
Periodontists are uniquely trained to save teeth. When it comes to tooth replacement, there is no substitute for your natural teeth. Periodontists and dental hygienists know this, it’s in our DNA. We work hard to maintain your teeth, even if implants have been recommended for some patients. We will discuss all options with you and your general dentist so we can find the best treatment together.
We focus on health and care. Our team is absolutely committed to providing care beyond just dental treatment. We want to build our relationships on the foundation of trust and gentle care. For our patients and the dentists who refer their patients to us, you can be sure that we want to have a real and complete understanding of your needs, concerns, and clinical condition. We work hard to educate our patients and inform them of their dental condition and treatment options. Each patient is thereby empowered to make healthy decisions to achieve and maintain outstanding results.
“That was easier than I thought it would be!” Those are our favorite words to hear when patients receive treatment in our office and we work hard to hear them. We know it is important that patients have a very clear understanding of their conditions, options, and how their care will be handled from start to finish. In addition, we offer several sedation options so patients can be comfortable and relaxed throughout treatment.
Your mouth is your connection to your entire body. You speak with it. You eat with it. You smile with it. We know that your mouth is vitally important to your health, confidence, and quality of life. Under our care, we will make sure that your oral health maximizes all three. Additionally, we will address any concerns that may have an impact on your overall health (cardiovascular, respiratory, immune, etc.) and we will discuss the connections from the mouth to the rest of the body.
We are up-to-date with the highest level of skills, safety, and technology. Dr. Setter completed his dental training at the University of Michigan (he won’t let you forget it with maize and blue everywhere) and surgical residency at the University of Washington. He also sought the highest level of competence within the profession by completing the rigorous board examination and becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Setter was also trained by the esteemed Misch International Implant Institute and is a Fellow of the International College of Oral Implantology. In our practice, we follow the strict guidelines of the CDC, OSHA, OHA, and ADA to ensure our workplace achieves the highest level of sanitization and cleanliness. We have protocols and technologies to protect our patients and staff against Covid-19 and other pathogens. Finally, our team uses cutting-edge technology in our daily care, and we rely on digital x-rays, CT scanning, computer simulations, and periodontal laser technology to give us the full range of planning and treatment options.
